Men were victims of just over a quarter of incidents of domestic violence in 2010, according to the British Crime Survey. Find out about the signs of domestic violence, and where to get support if it’s happening to you.
Anybody can be affected by domestic abuse, and anyone can be an abuser. It doesn't just happen to women – men can be victims too, whether their partner is a man or a woman.
If it's happening to you, it's important to tell someone and to remember that you're not alone.
Ippo Panteloudakis is helpline manager for the Men's Advice Line, which offers help over the phone or via email. "We spoke to 800 male victims of domestic abuse in 2010," he says. "More men are coming forward than a few years ago, and the services to support them are improving very quickly."
The Men's Advice Line can refer men to local places that can help, such as health services and voluntary organisations.

summary
Men get abused more than people think, over a quarter of situations dealing with domestic violence involved men getting either mentally or physically abused. people don't realize that anyone can abuse and anyone can be abused. Men didn't used to speak up about their situation of abuse, however a few years ago more men spoke up. Their is a men's advice help line that offers guidance to help them get through the situation.

Books on abuse towards men

PW.C, 2009, abused men: the hidden side of domestic violence, 2nd edition, praeger publishers - 2009

I searched on Google "domestic violence towards men and it gave me a book which significantly shows that abuse towards men is not seen as an issue mainly because people do not know that it occurs.

This is a screen shot from a part of the book, it portrays the fear of men standing up to the situation due to them feeling like a "wimp" if they get abused by a woman. Further more, the abuse towards men does not necessarily have to be physical abuse, they can be abused mentally.

Journal for abuse towards males

This journal backs up the point of males needing to stand up for domestic violence that takes place. the journal also backs up that male abuse is not taken as seriously as it should it be, stereo typically its always been known for males to be the one who abuse women however that is not the case.

Short film

You should be able to create a quality short for $1000 no problem. Focus not on the camera or lenses or lights as much though as the storytelling, acting, planning, pre-production and ideas. That will always be your most important thing.

USP

my USP will be that the male in this situation is the one who is getting abused, abuse towards men isn't considered important as it should be. The fact that my short film will contain the life of a male who is abused stands out from others.

legal and ethical issues

the ethical issue with the short film would be that women shouldn't abuse men because they can, the abuse towards women from men is already heavily frowned upon so they should not feel the need to abuse men, the abuse towards men occurs more than anyone would believe. it happens every 1 in 6 men, and that's just the UK.

'Abuse towards men' gives a vast amount of answers for the search, the magazine that came up is extremely relevant for the topic of abuse towards men, the magazine has views from men that have been abused. This is helpful due to in my short film, I could put together a scenario that relates to real life, as a result this the short film would be more engaging to watch due to the audience being able to relate. Also it can help me identify what has been done and what has not been done, this will help create a successful USP (unique selling point) which will help my short film be more engaging.

Skimming and Scanning are two specific speed-reading techniques, which enable you to cover a vast amount of material very rapidly. These techniques are similar in process but different in purpose. Quickly "looking over" an article is neither skimming nor scanning.

This is to demonstrate summarising

summarising

If you get a large extract of information not all of it may be relevant to what your looking for. Summarising will give you the information that you need and will give you the understanding of the text.

First you will need to skim read over the whole of the text to get a general Idea of what its about, this is so you get a general understanding of the whole extract.

Then scan the extract for key information that is relevant to what your going to summarise.

Once you have the key information picked out, you will need to paraphrase your summary (in your own words). link the key information together so it forms a few sentences, the sentences will be the key information that one would need to know from the extract. after that, you will have a summary for the extract however all of the summary will be relevant to you.

Jeremy Corbyn was on Tuesday branded “disloyal” for refusing to sing the national anthem on a day of chaos which saw one of his shadow cabinet ministers threaten to resign over the European Union.

The new Labor leader faced heavy criticism for standing in silence while God Save the Queen was played during a Battle of Britain remembrance ceremony at St Paul’s Cathedral attended by the Prime Minister, Defence Secretary and scores of military leaders.

Former military commanders as well as Labour and Tory MPs said he was “dishonourable” for refusing to sing the national anthem.

Mr Corbyn later insisted that he “stood in respectful silence” during the remembrance ceremony.

In contrast to other leaders and dignitaries at the event, Mr Corbyn wore a mismatched suit and the top button on his shirt appeared to be undone.

And less than 48 hours after the formation of the shadow cabinet, Lord Falconer, who served under Tony Blair, on Tuesday exposed the divisions in the new Labour leadership as he warned that he will step down if Mr Corbyn campaigns to leave the European Union.

In a further blow to Mr Corbyn, it emerged that up to 100 Labour MPs are preparing to defy him by preparing to publicly campaign for Britain to stay in the EU “with or without” the new leader’s support.

Mr Corbyn on Tuesday travelled to the TUC conference in Brighton where he delivered a rambling speech which called for people to be given unlimited benefits.

general election and compared the Government to the fascist leadership of General Franco in Spain.

In another sign of the disarray in Labour, Mr Corbyn forgot to deliver a number of lines in his speech that had been pre-briefed ahead of his appearance at the conference.

It comes as Mr Corbyn prepares to face David Cameron at Prime Minister’s Questions for the first time.

The new Labour leader has “crowd sourced” his questions to Mr Cameron by inviting members of public to submit their ideas of the Labour website.

Labour said that more than 30,000 people have submitted questions in recent days.

Mr Corbyn was on Monday evening forced to issue a statement after hours of criticism over his decision not to sing the national anthem.

Asked if Mr Cameron was surprised Mr Corbyn had not sung the anthem, the Prime Minister's official spokeswoman said: "The importance the Prime Minister attaches to the National Anthem is visible - every time he's at one of these services or a state or national event, he is very proud and willing to join with others in singing the National Anthem."

Admiral Lord West of Spithead, a Labour peer and former security minister, said: “Singing the national anthem is a sign of loyalty to the United Kingdom and British people. I cannot believe that the people of our great nation could contemplate a Prime Minister who lacks that loyalty.”

Sir Nicholas Soames, a Tory MP and the grandson of Winston Churchill, said not singing the anthem was "very rude and very disrespectful" to the Queen and "the Battle of Britain pilots who gave their all".
